Beauty and destruction are both embodied in this one of a kind denim jacket. The jacket came to me shredded, with a massive hole at the back and more distressing details all around. Rather than “fix” it, I wanted to elevate the torn up piece, which I did with couture embellishments of repurposed vintage lace and hand beading.
Like moss and mushrooms growing on a fallen tree, the lace and beading are placed in a way to suggest they’ve grown organically from the fabric. With the added weight of the beads, it feels like a leather jacket to wear, but breathes like denim!
I love to envision this piece worn layered over different fabrics, the textures and peek-a-boo holes all playing together to create entirely unique looks.
Over 20 hours of work have gone lovingly into this piece 🖤
